Moraine State Park has the following programs scheduled:

1 to 3 p.m. March 24 “Dr. Preston and Preston Park,” State Parks Region 2 Office, 195 Park Road.

Local historian and author, Polly Shaw, will present the life and work of Frank W. Preston and his explorations with Ned Arthur which led to the creation of Moraine State Park.

6:30 to 8 p.m. April 4 “Woodcock Walk,” parking lot at end of Burton Road.

Join local bird enthusiasts in pursuit of one of the most unusual birds found in Pennsylvania. The woodcock is also known as the timberdoodle, night partridge, big-eye, bogsucker and mudsnipe. This bird has seen a dramatic decline due to loss of young forest habitat.

Registration in advance is required. To register, call the park office at 724-368-8811.

6 to 7:30 p.m. “Volunteer kickoff meeting,” South Shore office, 225 Pleasant Valley Road.

Learn how to get involved in volunteering at Moraine and McConnells Mill State Parks. Meet park staff and representatives of volunteer groups, and discuss last year's highlights and what to expect in the upcoming season. New and seasoned volunteers are welcome.

A night of magic and illusion featuring renowned magician Rick Smith Jr. will begin at 7 p.m. March 27 at Butler Intermediate High School, 551 Fairground Hill Road.Smith has been featured on “Ellen,” “America's Got Talent, “The Tonight Show,” “Dude Perfect,” and “Shark Tank. “All proceeds will directly benefit the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support program at Center Township Elementary School.Tickets are available online at www.magicgivesback.com.

The Montessori Preschool of Meridian Area is accepting new students for the 2020-21 academic school year.Interested parents should call 724-482-4200.
