Authorities are continuing their investigation into a shooting and armed home invasion, both believed to have occurred early Sunday morning. But investigators still do not know if the incidents are connected.

Investigators acknowledge they have not nailed down where the shooting occurred that left 18-year-old Lamont Franklin Jr. hospitalized in Pittsburgh with non-life threatening injuries.

Other questions remained unanswered Monday and there have been no arrests as of now. A motive for either incident is apparently unclear as well.

Franklin spoke to a detective following surgery Sunday, according to authorities, however police remain tight-lipped about what he told them.

No one was injured in the home invasion on Negley Avenue in the city's Island neighborhood. A 36-year-old woman and her two children who live there were home at the time.

The woman described three masked men — one with a handgun — breaking into the home. But she apparently did not immediately notify authorities about what happened.

The investigation began at 6:17 a.m. Sunday when a man who lives on the 300 block of Liberty Street called 911 to report hearing about six gunshots.
