Retailer coming to old Kmart

The Kmart at Pullman Plaza moved out in the summer of 2017 as one of 49 locations closed nationwide by the former retail giant due to lagging sales.

The old Kmart store in Pullman Plaza could be hopping with shoppers in four to six weeks.

John Evans, the city's zoning officer, confirmed that a building permit was issued on Monday morning to Gabe's.

Gabe's has 107 stores in 13 states.

The retailer sells discounted clothing and fashion accessories, shoes, housewares, home decor, bedding, pet supplies and other items.

Evans said the store will fill the entire space, which he said is close to 30,000 square feet.
