[naviga:h3]18 BC3 athletes earn all-academic[/naviga:h3]

BUTLER TWP — Eighteen Butler County Community College student-athletes have been named to the Western Pa. Collegiate Conference fall sports all-academic team.

High honors are accorded to athletes with a grade point average of 3.5 or above, honors to those with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.49.

The honorees follow:

Volleyball: Morgan Malinski (high honors), Michaella Roth (high honors), Kaylee Ebbert and Madyson McAninch

Women’s Basketball: Michaella Roth, Alexis Barnhart, Katelyn Gavinski, Nicole Hartman, Jenna Heitzenrater, Casey Kretzer, Skye Wessel (all high honors), Carrie Dingel

Men’s Basketball: Noah Mclean, Julian Sanks, Dominic Schmidt, Jacob Slomers

Golf: Jocelyn Dias (high honors), Camden Seybert (high honors), Jake Cuny

[naviga:h3]Mars students join volleyball event[/naviga:h3]

LANCASTER — Three Mars Area High School students competed in the 2020 Martin Luther King Kickoff Challenge Volleyball Tournament recently.

Freshmen Emma Libert and Kate Muchnok competed as members of the Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball 15A White Team, which earned first place in the Round 3 Playoff Bronze Bracket. Sophomore Cecelia Joliat competed on the Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball 16A Silver Team, which advanced to the semifinals.

The competition brought together approximately 80 club teams.
