KC grad Gibson nets 14 in SRU defeat

JOHNSTOWN — Karns City graduate LeeAnn Gibson scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Saturday, but the Slippery Rock University women’s basketball team dropped a 77-67 decision at Pitt-Johnstown.

All five Rock starters scored in double figures and SRU (4-13, 2-9) led by 12 points early. Pitt-Johnstown (10-7, 5-6) rallied to win its third straight.

Karington Ketterer had 11 points and 11 rebounds for SRU while Brooke Hinderliter and Madison Johnson both had 11 points and five rebounds. Daeja Quick had 11 points, five assists and five rebounds.

Pitt-Johnstown 72, SRU (men) 69 — The Rock (8-9, 4-7) trailed by as many as 16 in the second half before rallying to take a brief lead.

Trailing by one, SRU regained possession with 6.7 seconds left. The Rock turned the ball over on the inbounds pass and the Mountain Cats (15-2, 9-3) wound up with the three-point win.

Will Robinson Jr. led The Rock with 24 points and seven rebounds. Micah Till tallied 16 points, nine rebounds and four steals. He became the first player in program history to amass 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 100 assists, 100 steals and 100 blocked shots in a career.

Amante Britt added 14 points and six assists for SRU.

Both Rock teams travel to Mercyhurst Wednesday night.

Prince George CCC 120, Butler County Community College 65 — Andrew Yonker led the Pioneers with 17 points. Julian Sanks added 14 and Cole McCarthy 12 in this Saturday game.

Prince George CCC 72, BC3 (women) 59 — Michaella Roth scored 23 points for the Pioneers while Casey Kretzer added 16. Skye Wessel had 14 rebounds, Alexis Barnhart 12.
