Photographic art coming to Cranberry gallery space

The photography of Thomas D'Andrea will be featured during the month of February at the Cranberry Artists Network gallery.

CRANBERRY TWP — Photographer Thomas D’Andrea will have his work featured in February by the Cranberry Artists Network.

The exhibit space is in the Back Hall Gallery at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center, 2525 Rochester Road.

The photography show will open Feb. 1 and run through Feb. 29.

A “Meet the Artist” session is planned for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5.

D’Andrea says his exhibit is a view of the seven basic elements of photography: line, shape, form, texture, pattern, color and space.

“There are many things to keep in mind when composing an image, these include the rule of thirds, symmetry, leading lines, leading room, depth, and size of subject,” D’Andrea said. “The composition of an image is simply the way all individual elements within our frame combine to form the final image.”

His technical approach to photography may have been influenced by his education in mechanical engineering, physics and mathematics.

“The digital world has opened a door that allows a computer to be a dark room with endless possibilities,” he said.

“This digital technology has not changed my simple approach of wanting to capture the reflected light of what is appealing to my creative instincts at the time,” he noted.

An exhibit of work by new members concludes Jan. 31.

The gallery space is usually open when the municipal center is open. Admission is free.
