1:24 p.m. Monday — A 50-year-old woman who lives on the 400 block of Dogwood Drive in Franklin Township reported several items stolen from her mailbox. The stolen items include a candle, sweat shirt, compression socks and an Indian head penny. Anyone with information should call police at 724-284-8100.

8:58 p.m. Dec. 29 — Ian Ashbaugh, 24, of Butler was pulled over for a traffic violation while driving on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township. The trooper who pulled Ashbaugh over said he smelled marijuana and searched the car. He allegedly found a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia. Charges are pending.

6:50 p.m. Dec. 29 — Michael Aust, 51, of West Sunbury hit a deer while driving his Ford Focus on West Sunbury Road in Clay Township. Aust wasn't injured. Police cited him for speeding.

12 a.m. Dec. 28 — Nicholascott D. Taylor, 33, of Vandergrift, Westmoreland County, was pulled over by police for speeding, then allegedly found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and THC oil. Police charged Taylor with possessing a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, careless driving, driving without headlights and failing to use a seat belt.

Dec. 27 to 29 — During the weekend, police set up a sobriety checkpoint, which resulted in 104 vehicles stopped, four DUI arrests, three misdemeanor criminal arrests, 19 summary traffic citations and 26 written warnings.

2:07 a.m. Dec. 22 — Kristina Walker, 34, of Chicora was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence in Clearfield Township. Police pulled Walker over at the intersection of Route 422 and E. Orchard Drive.

11:48 a.m. Monday — Police issued a warrant for Jeffrey Allen Kennedy, 57, of Butler in connection with an apparent assault. Kennedy faces charges of simple assault and harassment after an incident on Irene Drive. His alleged victim, a woman, suffered injuries. Anyone with information on Kennedy’s whereabouts or how to contact him should call 911 or the Butler Township Police.
