Maier has huge night in Butler win

Scores 21 as Tornado take section opener

Makenna Maier scored a game-high 21 points — 12 coming in the second quarter — to lead the Butler girls basketball team to a huge 58-51 road win over Fox Chapel in the section opener Thursday night.

Sarayne Forbes also had a big game for the Golden Tornado (3-1, 1-0) with 12 points.

The junior scored eight of those points in the fourth quarter to help Butler regain the lead and hold off the Foxes.

Jaden Davinsizer added 11 points and Olivia West 10 for Seneca Valley.

Knoch 56, Highlands 10 — Madilyn Boyer scored 21 points as the Knights rolled.

Lauren Cihonski added 11 and Megan Vasas pitched in 10 for Knoch.
