Pickup hits vehicles, utility pole in Butler

A hit-and-run driver left a path of destruction on Zeigler Avenue in Butler Tuesday night.

A red or maroon Dodge Ram pickup with a cap on the bed hit at least two vehicles and sheered off a utility pole around 7:45 p.m., leaving several homes without power, and then fled the scene, Butler police said.

The truck hit and sheered a pole near the Center Avenue intersection before hitting a minivan and possibly another pickup before hitting Jarrod and Jessica Shantz's car that was parked in front of their home at 115 Zeigler Ave.

They said they were home when they heard the crashes.

“You could hear screeching tires and lots of smashing,” Jessica Shantz said.

Jarrod Shantz said he got outside in time to see the Ram truck after it pushed the minivan into the intersection of Zeigler and Short Street,
