SRU basketball loses at Shepherd

Kyle Daggett sank a trey from midcourt at the buzzer Saturday, giving Shepherd an 83-80 men's basketball victory over Slippery Rock University in overtime.

The road loss dropped The Rock to 4-4 overall, 1-12 in PSAC play. Shepherd has the same record.

Will Robinson Jr. had hit a game-tying trey for SRU with three seconds left in overtime before Daggett's winning bucket. Donovan Walker paced The Rock with 22 points.

Jared Armstrong added 18 points and four assists, Robinson Jr. 19 points and 10 rebounds, Deontae Robertson 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The Rock will host Salem at 3 p.m. this Sunday at Morrow Field House.

Shepherd (8-1, 2-1) sank four free throws in the final seconds to seal the win for the Rams.Brooke Hinderliter scored 25 points, grabbed six rebounds and had four assists. She has 1,350 career points, sixth most in Rock history. Daeja Quick had 24 points and three steals, Madison Johnson 24 points and eight rebounds.Karns City graduate Lee Ann Gibson had nine points and eight rebounds for SRU (2-6, 0-3).

The Pioneer men dropped to 2-10 on the year with this Sunday loss. Andrew Yonker scored 23 points, Julian Sanks 16, Kaiden Young and Jamir Carter 10 each.BC3 lost a 125-61 decision to Prince George CC Saturday. Cole McCarthy had 21 points, Yonker 15. in the loss.

Casey Kretzer scored 26 points and Michaella Roth 18 for the Pioneers (1-9).The BC3 women dropped an 86-48 decision to Prince George CC Saturday. Kretzer scored 21 points, Skye Wessel 11. Jenna Heitzenrater had 12 rebounds.
