Butler Police12:57 a.m. Nov. 9 — Jeremiah N. Holmes, 39, of Butler, was arrested for drunken driving after he was allegedly found passed out in a car that was still running while stopped at a traffic light at North Main and West Penn streets.Moments earlier, police were flagged down by a group of people advising them of an unresponsive man in the vehicle. An officer reported that it took several attempts to awaken Holmes. The car, which was in drive, eventually drifted eastbound across Main Street onto East Penn Street. It stopped after hitting a curb.Police subsequently asked the defendant if he would submit to a breath test. “Holmes refused,” according to court documents, “stating that he could fail it.”He is charged with driving under the influence.

Butler Twp Police8:32 p.m. Nov. 8 — Gary Kissinger, 67, of Butler, suffered an apparent medical condition while driving a vehicle, and struck another vehicle at New Castle Road and Campus Lane. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for unknown treatment. The other driver, Thomas McCommon, 61, of Butler, was not injured. Kissinger’s vehicle had to be towed.

State Police, Butler5:25 p.m. Tuesday — Slippery road conditions were a factor in a three-vehicle crash in Connoquenessing Township. The wreck occurred when Stephen M. Lodovico, 41, of Evans City, lost control of his sport utility vehicle due to snow and ice on Upper Harmony Road just east of Swain Hill Road. The SUV ended up blocking both lanes.An approaching driver, Craig A. Shever, 51, of Butler, swerved to avoid the SUV, but his car fishtailed and struck the vehicle. Another approaching driver, Katherine Shever, 54, of Butler, swerved her SUV to avoid the car and traveled into a ditch before hitting the car and ending on its passenger side.5:14 p.m. Sunday — An Ohio man allegedly drove away after the pickup truck he was driving struck three mailboxes attached atop a post on the 300 block Mahood Road in Center Township. Joshua J. Costlow, 35, of Boardman was later identified and he is charged with hit-and-run, driving on the wrong side of the road, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.11:18 a.m. Nov. 1 — SUVs driven by Joanna Lawson, 83, of Butler and Curtis A. Handlovic, 34, of Slippery Rock collided at route 8 and Route 308 in Center Township. Handlovic’s vehicle had to be towed.

State Police, Mercer7:10 p.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Jennifer R. Grooms, 47, of Slippery Rock was struck by another vehicle at Old Mercer and Leesburg Grove City road in Springfield Township. Ethan W. Bobic, 21, of New Castle was the other driver. No one was injured, but at least one of the vehicles had to be towed.
