Kate Scanlan and Sean Scott

Seneca Valley Band seniors Kate Scanlan and Sean Scott were recently selected to participate in the National Association for Music Education All-National Honor Ensembles in Orlando, Fla. Nov. 7 through 10.

Over 500 students from 49 states and territories were selected to perform in the National Music Ensembles.

Kate, who plays trombone, was selected as the only student from Pennsylvania to perform in the National Jazz Ensemble

Sean, who plays baritone saxophone, was selected as one of only eight students from Pennsylvania to perform in the National Concert Band.

To be eligible for the national level, students were required to have participated in the state-level festival in their home state during the previous school year. In addition, they had to submit an audition video to be considered.

Gabriel Brunck of Sarver is one of five students who make up the first cohort of Harrison Scholars at Marietta College.

The Charles Sumner Harrison Scholarship is a full-tuition grant that is a collaborative initiative between Enrollment Management and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

Samantha Bartley of Valencia was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Bartley was initiated at The University of Findlay.

Makayla Washington of Cranberry Township was one of 12 first-year students awarded a Presidential Fellows Scholarship from Miami University.

Dori Kralj of Emlenton, who is studying animal science, received the Solon A. and Dorothy F. Ewing Animal Science Scholarship from the Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and affiliated academic units.

Sebastian Anastasi of Grove City helped the Grove City College Debate Team win honors when they traveled to Morristown, Tenn., last month to compete in the Smoky Mountain Invitational tournament hosted by Walters State Community College.

Cassandra Eisenreich of Slippery Rock was recently awarded a Love of Learning Award worth $500 from the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

Eisenreich, assistant professor of flute and music education at Slippery Rock University, will use funds from the award to travel to the Dalcroze Society of America National Conference in Miami.

Niklas Baldis of Mars earned a $15,000 Trustee’s Scholarship.

Adam Blose of Butler earned a $17,000 President’s Scholarship.

Zane Gagliardi of Butler earned a $13,000 Dean’s Scholarship.

Savannah Holcomb of Cranberry Township earned a $17,000 President’s Scholarship.

Julia Singleton of Butler earned a $17,000 President’s Scholarship.

Ethan Sloane of Cabot earned a $17,000 President’s Scholarship.

Laila Tyler of Butler earned a $13,000 Dean’s Scholarship.
