Ben Cherington accepts position as Pirates GM
According to news reports, Ben Cherington has accepted the position as the Pittsburgh Pirates' new general manager.
According to a report from MLB.com, the Pirates have not confirmed the hiring. Cherington has previously worked for the Blue Jays and the Red Sox.
The previous general manager for the Pirates was Neal Huntington, who was fired at the end of October.
