BC3 volleyball hosting tourney

The Butler County Community College women’s volleyball team will look to defend four consecutive Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference championships when the Pioneers host the conference tournament Saturday.

Top-seeded BC3, led by head coach Rob Snyder, will take the court in a semifinal at noon against the winner of a 10 a.m. match between Pitt-Titusville and CCBC. The other semifinal will feature CCAC-Boyce against Penn Highlands.

The Pioneers (14-3) feature Maddy McAninch, a freshman libero and Freeport High School graduate who leads the National Junior College ranks with 7.4 digs per set.

Knoch graduate Makenzie McDowell and Kaylee Ebbert, of Mars, are averaging 5.0 and 4.9 digs, respectively.

Knoch’s Abby Kopac paces the Pioneers with 116 kills. Morgan Malinski, of Slippery Rock, has 447 assists.

BC3 has won 10 conference crowns under Snyder and 15 since 1977.
