Lutherlyn hosts Woodland Quilt Show

Volunteers Robin Brown of Connoquenessing Township, left, and Judy Fedosick of Butler work together to store a quilt for the upcoming quilt show at Lutherlyn.

Cabin Fever is the theme for the 2019 Woodland Quilt Show at Lutherlyn this weekend.

This nonjudged show is comprised of entries from members of the Woodland Quilters and the general public, 49 participants in all, and will feature more than 100 entries.

Violet Dunmyre of Center Township started quilting about 18 years ago when she was inspired by a quilt she saw.

“I began quilting because I saw a quilt in the visitor's center at the New River Gorge in West Virginia when my husband and I were traveling.

“Although I didn't know the name of the pattern then, I just thought it was beautiful, and it was something I thought I could do,” Dunmyre said. She's been a part of the show for awhile.

“This show is important to all of us Woodland Quilters because all the money raised goes to the Lutherlyn Annual Fund which helps Lutherlyn provide scholarships for children to attend summer camp. It is important to our members to know that no child is turned away at Lutherlyn,” Dunmyre said.
