SR boys soccer perfect in region

Ryan Davey and Cullen Birkes scored two goals each Monday as Slippery Rock defeated Oil City, 9-0, in boys scorer.

The Rockets (14-3, 10-0) completed a perfect season in region play.

Ian Balquist, Mark Novad, Alex Duffalo, Cole Kovacik and Connor Wallace all scored single tallies for Slippery Rock. Duncan McCoy and Colton Callen shared the shutout in goal.

The Rockets conclude the regular season Tuesday, hosting Mercer.

Sidney Shemanski scored all three goals as Freeport edged Deer Lakes 3-2.Kylie Hoffman and Emma Check each had an assist and Maddy Zarichnak recorded seven saves for the Yellowjackets (13-4).

Tiffany Madison had nine kills and five blocks and Virginia Recchia added 20 assists and 10 service points as Slippery Rock rolled to a 25-13, 25-14, 25-19 win over Wilmington.Taylor Balint pitched in 13 digs and 13 service points and Lexis Prementine added six kills and 12 digs for the Rockets (7-7).North Catholic 3, Butler 1 — Ava Carney had 13 kills and 11 digs and Gabby Lucas added 25 digs, but the Golden Tornado fell to the Trojanettes, 25-19, 25-21, 24-26, 25-10.Taylor Welter added 11 kills and Sophia Lucas 10 kills and 12 digs for Butler, who will play at Fox Chapel Tuesday.Union 3, Mercer 0 — Dominika Logue had five kills and Kiera Zitzman seven aces as the Damsels won 25-23, 25-12, 25-19.Redbank Valley 3, Moniteau 0 — Rylee Hoffman had three aces and Ivie Scott three kills as the Warriors were swept.Brookville 3, Karns City 0 — Cassidy Nolan, Emma Clark and Mackenzie Dunn each had five kills in the 25-18, 25-17, 25-20 setback for the Gremlins.Dunn also had 18 digs for Karns City.A-C Valley 3, Oil City 0 — Emily Wetzel had 13 service points, seven aces and 11 assists for the Falcons (13-1), who won the match 25-6, 25-15, 25-14.Mia Sherman added 10 service points, five aces, five kills and nine digs, Meah Ielase 10 service points, five kills and nine digs, Andrea Meals seven kills.A-C Valley hosts Union for Senior Night Tuesday.

Knoch defeated Mount Pleasant, 4-1, in the quarterfinals of the WPIAL Tournament. No further details were available.
