Pumpkins do float, said Nick Yannotty, Butler YMCA youth and family director. About 30 kids jumped and climbed into a pool filled with pumpkins on Saturday at the Butler YMCA, 339 North Washington St., as part of its Floating Pumpkin Patch.

Children had the opportunity to seek and find their numbered pumpkin to decorate and carve.

The yearly event dates back about a decade, Yannotty said.

A floating pumpkin patch is a nontraditional pumpkin patch and one way to celebrate fall, he said.

“It's something unique,” he said.
