Mars boys soccer tops Mt. Lebo, 2-1

Luke Harvey scored the game-winning goal with 11 minutes remaining to give the Mars boys soccer team a 2-1 victory over third-ranked Class 4A opponent Mt. Lebanon on Saturday.

The Planets (15-1-1) trailed 1-0 before Dane Beller netted the tying goal early in the second half. Beller and Stephen Papik had assists.

Mitch Shultz made several saves in goal for the Planets, who travel to Ambridge Tuesday.

Butler 2, Knoch 0 — Emery Douthett and Carson Knight scored for the Golden Tornado (12-5, 9-5) in this non-section game. Evan Fetter and Luke Shook had the assists.

Peyton Seibert got the shutout in goal.

Karns City 8, Clarion-Limestone 0 — The Gremlins (16-1) wrapped up their 16th consecutive UAVSL South title with the win. Dakota King scored four goals, Owen Collwell and Nate Rondinelli two each.

Malik Metcalfe and Nate Boynden shared time in goal for the shutout. KC hosts Harbor Creek Wednesday for Breast Cancer Awareness Night.

Mckenna Martin scored two goals and an assist, Alexis Moore a goal and two assists as Karns City shut out Meadville, 5-0.Emma Dailey had a goal and assist for the Gremlins (14-0-1) with Ally Fennell netting a goal off an assist from Brooke Stahlman.Rossi McMillen got the shutout in goal. The Gremlinms play Tuesday at Punxsutawney.

Knoch's girls captured the team championship at the Rocky Grove Invitational. Three Knight runners placed among the top 15 to win medals.Sammy Jo Barnes was third overall in 20 minutes, 25 seconds. Elyse Chess was ninth in 21:42, Yumiko Kuo 14th in 22:20.Knoch's boys took fifth out of 26 teams at Rocky Grove. Three Knights placed among the top 25 to earn medals. Aaron Plyler was 15th in 18:24, Braden Zukowski 19th in 18:33 and Daniel Deal 23rd in 18:39.Both Knoch teams will compete at the Tri-State Invitational Thursday at California (Pa.) University.

Summit Academy ended a 17-game regular season losing streak with a 14-0 triumph over Valley Saturday afternoon.The win was the first in Butler graduate Joe Marak's head coaching career with the Knights.DeSean McCoy returned a fumble 87 yards for Summit's first touchdown. Camer Warrington-Curry scored on a 9-yard run. Paul Hines had three interceptions for Summit, which hosts Steel Valley next Saturday.
