Queen's Six to perform concert at SRU
SLIPPERY ROCK — British vocal ensemble The Queen's Six will continue the Performing Arts Series at Slippery Rock University on Oct. 27.
The concert is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the University Union.
Based at Windsor Castle, all of the vocalists in the The Queen's Six are also members of St. George's Chapel Choir, which performs eight services a week, as well as at private and state occasions, often before the Royal Family.
The Queen's Six was established in 2008, the 450th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth I, from whom they take their name.
Their repertoire extends far beyond the choir reach: from austere early chant and haunting folk songs to upbeat jazz and pop arrangements.
The Queen's Six has performed to critical acclaim at music festivals and series in the UK, Germany, Austria and Spain. Individually, members of Q6 regularly appear in the most prestigious vocal ensembles on the national and international circuit.
The group has released albums including “Music of the Realm” in 2015, “Her Heavenly Harmony” in 2016, and an album of folk songs in 2017.
The men of The Queen's Six will be available from 6 to 7 p.m. to greet the audience and respond to questions in room 205 of the University Union.
The performing arts series will continue Dec. 6 with virtuoso fiddler and Grammy Award-winner Eileen Ivers; Feb. 1 with African-style circus Cirque Zuma Zuma; and March 21 with superstar vocalist Maureen McGovern.

Also featured in the series this year are two lectures by nationally renowned journalists: “Crossing the Political Divide with Donna Brazile and Ana Navarro” at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 19, and “An Evening with Soledad O'Brien: Her Life Stories” at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 18.
