Two taken to hospital after accident in bank parking lot

A mother and daughter were both injured shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday when their sport utility vehicle struck a light pole at the First National Bank parking lot at the Butler Commons shopping plaza in Butler Township.

A mother and daughter were both injured shortly after 2 p.m. when their sport utility vehicle struck a light pole at the First National Bank parking lot at the Butler Commons shopping plaza in Butler Township.

The driver, who was believed to be in her 60s, was taken by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with unknown injuries. The passenger, in her early 20s, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with apparent minor injuries.

Butler Township police did not immediately release their names.

The driver had just used the drive-through automated teller machine when she crashed into the pole, causing the air bag to deploy.

Police did not know what caused the accident.
