A portion of Woodlawn Road in Butler Township was closed after smoke forced a family from their home.

Emergency responders arrived on scene in the 200 block about 7:15 a.m. No one appeared to be hurt and the fire was quickly knocked down.

Fire crews carried a dog and cat from the house. Both animals appeared healthy.

A cause was not immediately known.

Woodlawn Road reopened to traffic around 8:30 a.m.
