KC girls soccer blanks Forest

Brooke Stahlman scored a pair of goals Monday as the Karns City girls soccer team shut out Forest Area, 4-0.

McKenna Martin and Emma Dailey also scored for the Gremlins, who travel to DuBois Wednesday.

Freeport 7, East Allegheny 0 — Sidney Shemanski and Akina Boynton both scored twice as the Yellowjackets vaulted to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in section play.

Emma Check, Aleah Parison and Kaylin Greiser each added a goal for Freeport, which hosts Burrell Wednesday.

North Catholic 4, Avonworth 0 — Jayden Sharpless scored three times for the Trojanettes (4-3, 4-1) and Lindsey Pawlawski found the net once.

Kaleb Kuhn scored three goals and Ian Balquist two as Slippery Rock rolled past Warren, 8-2.Tyler Christy, Nick Kingerski and Riley Lewis added solo goals for the Rockets (2-3, 2-0), who play at Franklin Wednesday.

North Catholic senior Brendan Haggerty shot an 80 to place second in the Section 3-AA tournament at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course.The effort was just one stroke behind section champion Will Meyer of Deer Lakes.Both players advance to the WPIAL Championship, scheduled for Sept. 26 at Allegheny Country Club.Slippery Rock finished ninth out of 13 teams in the Bill Mook Memorial Tournament Monday at Wanango Golf Club.The Rockets tallied 397 points. Team champion Grove City had 303 to win by 40 strokes. Grove City's Troy Loughry was medalist with a 71.Freeport had no golfers advance from its Section 1-AA tournament at Buffalo Golf Course. Paul Zecca led the Yellowjackets with an 89.

Moniteau finished the season undefeated by winning the final KSAC Mega Match.The Warriors had a score of 160 and Cranberry was second at 185.Kendall Grossman and Haley Pry both scored a 53 for Moniteau and Brittany Ritts had a 54.

Knoch made quick work of non-section opponent Armstrong, sweeping the host River Hawks by scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-19.Kenzie Kerkan had 13 service points for the Knights (6-0) and Kennedy Christy eight kills.Ridgway 3, Karns City 0 — The Elkers swept the Gremlins by scores of 27-25, 25-15 and 25-11. No other details were available.A-C Valley 3, Punxsutawney 1 — Emily Wetzel had 10 service points, three aces, 19 digs, 11 assists and six kills for the Falcons (5-0). Tarra Stefanacci had nine service points and two aces, Meah Ielase 15 kills, Hannah Farrington 13 digs and five kills, Andrea Meals five kills and two blocks.Game scores were 25-21, 25-20, 14-25, 25-21. The Falcons host Moniteau Tuesday.
