EVANS CITY — A Monaca man was arraigned Monday after police said he punched, kneed and strangled a man during a dispute over a woman in the parking lot of the Evans City magistrate's office.

James Caleb Johnston, 28, was arraigned before Magistrate Judge Sue Haggerty on charges of aggravated assault, a first-degree felony; strangulation and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors; and summary disorderly conduct and harassment in the incident.

The victim was taken to a hospital with severe injuries, including a fractured cheekbone.
