8:39 p.m. Sept. 1 — Mason D. Hodgkiss, 28, of Butler was allegedly caught with marijuana and other contraband after being stopped for a traffic violation on West Pearl and North Main streets.

Police said Hodgkiss admitted that he had marijuana and a marijuana pipe in his car trunk, according to court documents. Officers recovered the items.

He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving a vehicle without insurance, and unauthorized use of a license plate.

2:54 p.m. Friday — Herbert W. Bartley, 68, of Butler was hurt when he lost control of his motorcycle on gravel and crashed on Route 58 just west of Black Road in Marion Township.Police said Herbert was taken to Grove City Medical Center with apparent minor injuries. He was wearing a helmet. The Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.Friday — Police reported they are investigating a burglary last month at a Clinton Township home where about $1,080 in property was stolen from a detached garage. The break-in on Knoch Road happened between Aug. 21 and 28.Among the stolen items was a Harbor Freight generator, a scooter, a weed trimmer, tools, a 40-foot aluminum ladder and a stereo.Friday — Police accused a 15-year-old Hilliards boy in connection with an all-terrain vehicle that was vandalized Sept. 4 in Venango Township.The ATV owner, a 62-year-old woman, notified police after she returned to her home on Cemetery Road and discovered the vehicle missing. Police subsequently determined the boy had taken it. They did not release his name.The teen drove the ATV around for several hours, according to a police report. At some point, the ATV was returned. But the owner discovered the front hood had been vandalized with black spray paint. Police blamed the boy for the vandalism. Damage was estimated between $180 and $200.Charges, including criminal mischief, are pending in the case.8:25 a.m. Thursday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Claryssa M. Rhodaberger, 24, of Fenelton struck a car at Route 8 and West Glenwood Way in Center Township. Neither Rhodaberger nor the other driver was injured.Police cited Rhodaberger for a red light violation.7:29 a.m. Thursday — Payton R. Baney, 18, of Emlenton lost control of her SUV and crashed on Cemetery Road just west of McJunkin Road in Venango Township. The vehicle rolled onto its roof.Wednesday — Police are investigating the theft of a 22-year-old woman’s purse last month from an unlocked car at her home on Eagle Mill Road in Connoquenessing Township.The Michael Kors purse, valued at $400, contained a Michael Kors wallet that had numerous credit cards in it. A key fob also was in the purse.The theft happened between 11 p.m. Aug. 29 and 10 a.m. Aug. 30.Sept. 7 — An unknown identity thief made an unauthorized online transaction with a 49-year-old Center Township man’s credit card. The $37.93 transaction was at a Chipotle restaurant.2:12 p.m. Sept. 5 — One person was hurt when a car driven by Emmalee M. Westgate, 18, of Fairview, Erie County, traveled into the path of another car, causing a collision at Route 108 and Harmony Road in Slippery Rock Township.The other driver, Brenda D. Sereday, 61, of West Middlesex, Mercer County, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. Both cars had to be towed.Police cited Westgate for a stop sign violation. The Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company assisted at the scene.1:34 p.m. Sept. 1 — A car driven by Chelsey D. Stewart, 26, of West Sunbury crashed and overturned into a ditch on Hooker Road in Clay Township. The vehicle ended on its roof.Stewart told police she wrecked when she swerved her car to avoid a deer.
