Author to give reading during BC3 open house

BUTLER TWP — Linda Schmitmeyer, a former features editor and columnist at the Butler Eagle, and former Butler County Community College instructor, will read from her book “Rambler” at 6 p.m. Wednesday at BC3.

The event will take place during BC3's first open house for the Heaton Family Learning Commons, which will showcase its offerings from 5 to 8 that evening.

Schmitmeyer chronicles her family's struggle in “Rambler: A family pushes through the fog of mental illness.”

The 387-page nonfiction book was published in 2018 by The Artists' Orchard.

Schmitmeyer, of Middlesex Township, graduated from the University of Dayton in Ohio with a bachelor's degree in secondary education and from Wright State University, also in Dayton, with a graduate degree in English education.

The open house at the Heaton Family Learning Commons is free and open to the community. Light refreshments will be served.

Community members can register for free library cards and free one-year parking passes, and take guided tours upon request following the book reading.

Reservations for the open house are suggested, but not required. Community members can register at bc3.edu/heaton.
