6:56 p.m. Aug. 7 — Linda M. Caldwell, 29, of Butler allegedly assaulted another woman on the side of the bridge on East Wayne Street. The victim was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, where she was diagnosed with a cervical strain and a scraped elbow, according to court documents.

Caldwell is charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct.

3:40 p.m. Friday — Two southwestern Pennsylvania men were treated at a Pittsburgh hospital after a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township that occurred when John J. Zazado, 46, of Millsboro, Washington County, slammed on the brakes of his pickup as he approached traffic and turned into the median.Zazado and his passenger, Alonzo D. Lawver, 69, of Clarksville, Greene County, were taken to Allegheny General Hospital with unknown injuries.Police cited Zazado for driving too fast for conditions, disregarding traffic lanes and not wearing a seat belt.8:16 a.m. Friday — No one was injured when a sport utility vehicle driven by Hannah E. Swartz, 22, of Saxonburg struck a pickup in the opposing lane on Brewer Road in Clinton Township. Thomas C, Sondej, 49, of Waterford, Erie County, was the other driver.Police cited Swartz for disregarding traffic lanes.7:45 p.m. Thursday — A minivan driven by Naomi C. Rountree, 31, of New Castle rear-ended a car on Route 422 just east of Route 19 in Muddy Creek Township. Kelly L. Killmeyer, 40, of Cranberry Township was the other driver.Rountree was cited for following too closely to another vehicle.Aug. 22 — A Lawrence County man was charged with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop last month in Butler. Police said they noticed Tyler A. Bowen, 21, of New Wilmington had a suspected marijuana cigarette above his right ear after he was pulled over around 1:45 a.m. July 27 on East Locust Street, according to court documents.A search of the defendant’s car, police said, turned up 7 grams of suspected marijuana. Bowen was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which allegedly showed he had marijuana and the prescription medication Xanax in his system.He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, driving with a suspended license, driving a vehicle without valid inspection, careless driving, failing to use turn signals and illegally parking in a private driveway.10:51 p.m. Aug. 20 — A rear-end crash injured one person in Brady Township. Jennifer J. McCarren, 67, of Butler, one of the drivers, suffered an apparent minor injury.The wreck occurred, according to a police report, when a car driven by Jeremy J. Rivera, 28, of Slippery Rick struck the back of McCarren’s SUV. Police cited Rivera for driving too fast for conditions.1:53 p.m. Aug. 19 — Cary E. Hogan, 59, of Butler was injured when an SUV struck the back of her vehicle that was stopped at a red light on Route 68 at Whitestown Road in Connoquenessing Township. Hogan suffered an apparent minor injury.Brett A. Hilderbrand, 34, of Butler was the other driver.4:40 a.m. Aug. 12 — A car driven by Rachel E. James, 22, of Clymer, N.Y., struck the back of a pickup driven by Melvin E. Scott, 59, of Zelienople on Interstate 79 at the Route 528 exit in Jackson Township.No one was injured, but the car had to be towed. Police cited James for driving too fast for conditions and not wearing a seat belt.6:36 p.m. Aug. 11 — A loose wheel was blamed for a two-vehicle accident in Center Township. Police said the front, left wheel came off a car that Zacary T. Hesselgesser, 18, of Chicora was driving on Route 8 just west of Pine Drive.The car crossed the oncoming lane and struck a pickup driven by Thomas J. Schnell, 57, of West Sunbury. No one was injured. Police cited Hesselgesser for an equipment violation.11:04 a.m. Aug. 9 — Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Route 8 just west of Volkswood Drive in Center Township. Abigail V. Warheit, 25, of Butler, one of the drivers, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with an apparent serious injury.Police said the accident occurred when Warheit’s minivan rear-ended an SUV that was stopped for traffic. The other driver, Philomenia G. Wasko, and her passenger, Terry J. Wasko, 70, both of Lynchburg, Va., suffered minor injuries.5:01 p.m. July 31 — Nathan T. Ferraro, 29, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly threatened a 60-year-old Butler man with a loaded handgun on Baumgart Road in Oakland Township. No injuries were reported.Ferraro was arraigned on charges of terroristic threats and reckless endangerment, and released on $6,000 unsecured bail.
