Mustello welcomes visitors to New Castle Road office

BUTLER TWP — The office hosting Butler's most central state House district opened its doors for a meet and greet Thursday afternoon.

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives' District 11 office has officially moved from its Lyndora location to a spot just off New Castle Road by the State Police Troop D barracks and the Butler High School campus.

The district is represented by Marci Mustello, a Republican who won the seat in a May special election following former representative Brian Ellis' resignation.

“There's better access for our constituents here,” Mustello said. “There's a little more space, especially for private meetings with constituents.”

The new office used to be Kerven Subaru. Walking inside, the building still smells a little like rubber tires.

“It's got that new car smell,” joked Ryan Martin, the district's senior legislative aid.

Martin worked for Ellis for about 16 years, he said, and is now filling the same role in Mustello's team.

The new building, he said, “is a fresh start.”

Jean Garrett, a former Ellis office worker who is volunteering with the district, said she thinks the designated spaces in the new office should be easier for discrete meetings on topics such as tax issues.

“It was a little cramped in there,” Garrett said.

The new office opened Aug. 1.

Ann Coleman, the office's manager, said rent for the space is comparable to the old, but said she did not have the cost available. As of 2014, Ellis' former office cost $1,450 per month, according to expense reports available online.

The new office is in a building owned by Ken Venmar.
