Scoop seeking repeat

Back-to-back 100-win seasons?

What can I say? The bird is the word and that's what I'm shooting for.

Scoop here ... that's right, I'm back, still basking in the glow of my 102-14 record from last year.

With a winning percentage like that, no need to tweak my beak or fix my picks.

I am good to go.

So, as much as fellow Eagle columnist Mike Kilroy doesn't like the term Week Zero, it is time for my Week Zero selections for this weekend.

Let the pigskins fly.

And let my picks roll:

The Golden Tornado are playing a sophomore quarterback in Cooper Baxter and the Indians have graduated all-purpose offensive standout Taylor Brennan. But North Hills has a 15-game win streak against Butler and the young Tornado may need a while to get things together. North Hills, 35-7.

The pigskin might be flying often up in Erie come Friday. Both of these teams are very capable of moving the ball and finding the end zone.I look for the visiting Raiders to get there at least one more time. Seneca Valley, 31-23.

These two longtime rivals are kickin' it old-school. It's the Talbots' Wing-T attack against the Knights' triple option.Hampton has defeated Knoch in their last five meetings. It's time for those tables to be turned. Knoch, 26-20.

Planet head coach Scott Heinauer sees this game as the first of a three-game preparation period for Mars' league opener.Mars is good, but West Mifflin appears to be loaded. West Mifflin, 20-12.

The Gremlins are none too happy with their 4-6 record of a year ago. They will take out that anger on the Rovers.Being on the road won't matter. Karns City, 25-13.

The Warriors traveled north a year ago and knocked off Kane. Now the Wolves are looking to return the favor. They will come close. They will not succeed. Moniteau, 19-18.

The Falcon Knights snuck into the District 9 playoffs last season. They want to make a lot more noise this time around. They have a long road trip ahead, but it will be worth their while. Union/A-C Valley, 20-18.

The Lancers may bring a more wide-open offense than usual, but the Rockets will be ready for it.Slippery Rock's program is firmly in place now. This will be Win No. 1. Slippery Rock, 28-17.

The Knights have a new head coach in Butler graduate Joe Marak. This will be a tough debut, however.Summit will get better as time goes on, but not this week. Western Beaver, 31-12.Scoop thinks he is perfect and wants to prove it
