Felon sought on drug charges

Task force searches home in Center Twp.

CENTER TWP — A felon is wanted on drug charges after county narcotics officers searched his home Monday and turned up dozens of bags of suspected heroin and several baggies of suspected crack cocaine, authorities said.

Clifford J. Anderson, 40, who was not home, is being sought on an arrest warrant issued Tuesday following an investigation by the Butler County Drug Task Force.

An investigation led to a search warrant that task force officers, who were assisted by the county's emergency services unit, executed around 5:45 p.m. Monday at Anderson's home on Route 8 near the Clearview Mall in Center Township.

In a front bedroom dresser, the task force said, officers found a pink purse in a dresser. The purse contained 50 stamp bags of suspected heroin and four plastic baggies containing about 15 grams of what appeared to be crack.

A second purse in the dresser contained another baggie with approximately one-half gram of suspected crack, according to charging documents.

Also allegedly in the dresser was a marijuana grinder and marijuana pipe, and on a night stand was another marijuana pipe.

Additionally, officers allegedly seized three scales that were on the bedroom floor. A search of the kitchen, documents said, turned up a baggie with about one-half gram of powder cocaine and three more scales. Officers also found a large knife with metal knuckles in the living room, documents said.

District Judge Lewis Stoughton signed the warrant for Anderson's arrest on two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

Additionally, he is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and possession of a prohibited offensive weapon, all misdemeanors,

Butler County court records showed that Anderson has three prior felony drug convictions for cases between 1998 and 2000.

In the 2000 case, which the county drug task force filed, according to records, he was caught with 13 rocks of crack cocaine at a Butler bar. He was on state parole at the time. A jury subsequently found him guilty of felony and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, and he was sentenced to two years and nine months to 10 years in state prison.

Authorities ask anyone with information about Anderson's whereabouts to call 911.
