Academy teen has jaw surgery after punch

SUMMIT TWP — A verbal argument that turned physical between two 17-year-old boys at Summit Academy will require one of those boys to have his jaw repaired.

State police responded to a call at 7:40 a.m. on Aug. 8 at the academy, where one of the boys punched the other after an argument, police reports said.

The victim, who is from Wilkes-Barre, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, where doctors determined he would require extensive medical care for his damaged jaw.

The unnamed youth then was taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.

He subsequently underwent surgery for the injury to his jaw.

The boy who allegedly threw the punch was charged with assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
