PITTSBURGH — The Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team will play an exhibition game Oct. 30 against the University of Pittsburgh at the Petersen Events Center.

SRU is 0-4 against Pitt all-time, including a 71-59 loss in 2017. Pitt has won 36 consecutive preseason exhibition games, dating back to 1998.

Mars grad Cannon new Chatham coach

PITTSBURGH — Mars graduate DJ Cannon has been named head baseball coach at Chatham University.

Cannon had been pitching coach at Seton Hill University since 2013, when his pitching career with the Griffins ended. His 2018 pitching staff led the PSAC with a 3.36 team earned run average.

Cannon was a three-sport athlete at Mars and is a member of his alma mater’s Hall of Fame.
