Nearly a year later, fatal accident case moves forward

Charges have been filed stemming from this August accident in Lancaster Township.

LANCASTER TWP - Charges against a Slippery Rock man accused of striking and killing a motorcyclist while allegedly distracted by a social media app were held for higher court.

Nicholas Abbott Jr., 24, is charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, using text-based communications, careless driving, following too closely and reckless driving.

The charges stem from an Aug. 23, 2018 accident in which Abbott allegedly struck the motorcyclist on Route 19.
