Gas tanks are being removed from a closed gas station on Pittsburgh Road. The defunct gas station sits in the Greater Butler Mart area and are being taken out per Department of Environmental regulations, according to Jesse Hines, Butler Township’s zoning officer. Despite rumors that Hines has heard, he said the township has not received any business applications. “There’s nothing going in there for now,” Hines said. “I’d love to see that get restored. It’s a great location and the owner’s of that lot are pushing to get something in there that would benefit all involved to have that redeveloped.” The gas station has been closed for more than a year, Hines noted.
