LOS ANGELES — Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have separated after less than a year of marriage.
A representative for Cyrus said Saturday the pair decided a break was best while they focus on “themselves and careers.”
Cyrus and Hemsworth, who starred in “The Hunger Games” films, have been an on-again-off-again couple for more than a decade.
They married in December.
The representative said the pair will remain “dedicated parents to all of their animals they share.” They requested privacy.
The entertainers both starred in the 2010 romantic drama “The Last Song.”
The split was first reported by People magazine.

The second jury took 14 hours to convict Cosby of all three felony sex-assault charges, finding that he drugged and violated the 30-year-old Constand when she went to his home for career advice.The appeals court will consider more than a half-dozen alleged trial errors, including the defense claim that Cosby had a promise from a former prosecutor that he would never be charged in the case. That promise, they said, led Cosby to give deposition testimony in Constand's 2005 lawsuit that prompted his arrest when it was unsealed in 2015.Cosby turned 82 last month in state prison, where he is serving a three- to 10-year term.
