Skyliners booked for dinner, concert at Tanglewood

The Skyliners will be singing Saturday night at Tanglewood.

The Skyliners are set to perform this weekend at Tanglewood, just in time for the 60th anniversary of the group's first single, “Since I Don't Have You.”

The group, previously known as Jimmy Beaumont and The Skyliners, was scheduled to appear a couple years back. They are now known as The Skyliners since lead singer Beaumont died in 2017.

“In fact we had them booked and they had to cancel,” said chef George Schroth, one of the committee of two that organizes the entertainment at Tanglewood.

Another singer has joined the group, John Sarkis.

“Close your eyes and you'll think you're listening to Jimmy Beaumont,” said the other Tanglewood entertainment organizer Bill Reichert about Sarkis' voice. “He has a magnificent voice. The music of The Skyliners continues.”

The other members of the vocal group include Nick Pociask, Frank Czuri and Donna Groom.

“I've heard them sing,” said Reichert, “and every show they've done has been met with a huge response.

“The harmony structure, the way that The Skyliners recorded originally, very intricate tracks, they've managed to continue that.”

The group will perform two 40-minute sets with a brief intermission in between.

The evening also includes dinner, and Chef George reports the menu will be Swiss steak, red potatoes and apple pie.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. and the show at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $35. Call 724-287-0021 for more information.

Reichert said ticket sales have reached 85 percent to 90 percent for the show by “probably the most iconic group in the Pittsburgh area.”
