Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will have Gwen Atkinson providing the special music Sunday.

The prayer shawl group of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, meets at 1 p.m. Thursday.Communion will be observed Aug. 11 and not the usual first Sunday of the month.The St. Vincent DePaul Food Cupboard work team meets at 8 a.m. Monday.Food cupboard items for August are tuna and noodles.Registration forms for the Super Sprouts Pre-School are available in the church office or by calling 724-287-4462.

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., has Elder Brian Graff leading the 10 a.m. worship service. The Rev. Verna Call will be the guest celebrant for Communion with special piano music from Caitlin Gazica.

There will be a baptism during the Sunday worship service at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main Ext.The AA group will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.WW meets at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, at 10 a.m. Aug. 8 and at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 10.

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will have the Good Samaritan Flower Pot at the back of the sanctuary during the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service. Donations to it will be used to help those in the community.There will be an opportunity to learn about immigration ministry at 5 p.m. Sunday. Pastor Linda Theophilus will share her knowledge of Lutheran immigration and refugee work and ways that people of faith can advocate for good immigration policy. A light dinner will be provided. Sign up on the bulletin board in the social hall to be a part of the conversation and food.

GraceWay meets each Sunday for a 10 a.m. worship service at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.Beth Ackelson, Hannah Bossinger and Ruth Ferko provide the music at Sunday's service.

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., celebrates the sacrament of the Lord's Supper at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service. Fellowship hour will follow.The August food cupboard request is graham or soda crackers.The women's Bible study trip to the Pittsburgh Seminary Kelso Museum is at 9 a.m. Aug. 8.

Peter de Vries at Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, ends his sabbatical this week. He is expected to preach Sunday.Fliers with lists of elementary and high school students eligible for the Lighthouse Foundation backpack school supply program are available in Fellowship Hall. Backpacks are due Aug. 11.

Orchard Hill Butler County, 107 Staley Ave., is sponsoring a backpack drive for the Butler Area School District. Bring a backpack and school supplies including pencils, erasers, crayons, nonpermanent markers, tablets, pencil boxes, glue, gel pens, small tissue packets, and small folders to the 10:30 a.m. Sunday services Aug. 4 and 11.

St. John's Lutheran Church, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, celebrates Holy Communion during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.The cause of the month for August is the Armstrong Guardian Angels Healing Heroes Fund to supply medical service dogs for needy veterans.

St. John's Reformed Church, 494 Evans City Road, will have a free summer concert at 7 p.m. Sunday featuring the music of 3:16; Alan and Margaret Koegler. Refreshments will be served. A love offering will be taken. Take a lawn chair. In case of rain, the event will move indoors.

St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, has one all-church worship service at 9:45 a.m. Sunday. There will be an 11:30 a.m. picnic celebration in Centennial Hall for the 150th anniversary and a farewell party for Pastor Keller and family. An open house for the Kellers will continue until 2 p.m.The Outreach Ministry will lead the 2 and 3 p.m. Sunday worship services at Elmcroft, 100 Bella Drive, Saxonburg,Family Fellowship will have a playdate at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Alameda Park.All Ministry Night begins at 7 p.m. Monday in Centennial Hall.

Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, will have an outreach meeting after the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.There will be a Christian Education meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave., Butler Township, celebrates Holy Communion Sunday.The quilting/Bible study is at 9 a.m. Monday. The session meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday.On Aug. 8, the deacons meet at 5 p.m., and Bible Study will resume at 8:30 a.m. at the Valley Dairy, 275 Butler Commons, and at 7 p.m. at the church.
