FREEPORT — The Freeport International Baseball Invitational will run this coming Tuesday through Saturday, with games being played at 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. each day.

The event will begin and end at Freeport’s Swartz Field. This year’s field includes teams from the U.S., Japan, Australia and Puerto Rico.

In conjunction with the invite, the Freeport Marina on Buffalo Creek will be closed beginning at midnight Saturday, July 27. It will re-open at midnight Sunday.

Charity golf outing

South Butler County Meals on Wheels will hold its 22nd annual golf outing Aug. 5 at Conley Resort.

Foursomes, both men and women, are needed for the 18-hole, best-ball event, which will begin at 9 a.m.

Golfers will receive donuts and a cart at the start and food at the turn. A buffet and awards will cap the day.

Lowest-score foursome prizes are $360, $200 and a Conley Resort golf foursome voucher. Putting and chipping contests will also be featured.

Cost per golfer is $90, $360 for a foursome. Hole sponsorships are available at $100, $250, and $1,000. Sponsors receive a sign on a hole and mention on the South Butler Meals on Wheels website.

This is the only fundraiser held by the organization, which is non-profit and accepts no government funding.
