East Brady Riverfest flows into 4-day event
EAST BRADY, Clarion County — The 34th annual East Brady Riverfest promises to offer new entertainment options for festivalgoers of all ages.
Jason Hall, Riverfest committee president, said this year's event will be held from July 25 to 28 at the former East Brady football field at the intersection of Robinson and Sixth streets.
In addition to live music, food, craft and vendor booths, fireworks and other activities, Riverfest 2019 will include several new features.
Hall said an extra night has been added to the traditionally three-day event, as the festival will open at 5 p.m.Thursday.
Beer will be sold for the first time, and a wine vendor will be on-site.
Merchandise from the town's hero, retired NFL quarterback Jim Kelly, will be raffled. An autographed Ben Rothlisberger Steelers jersey also will be up for grabs in one of many raffles at the event.
Also new is Sunday's Anything That Floats Race, which will see area residents build simple or elaborate crafts that race on the Allegheny River from the boat launch on Seybertown Road to the East Brady boat works on Kelly's Way. Prizes will be awarded.
Hall said another new feature will be a carnival with rides and games for children.
Thursday night, the first Riverfest Karaoke Contest will be held on the stage at the former football field.
The Riverfest Firemen's Parade will be held Friday night. Emergency response vehicles, marching units, floats and boats and decorated golf carts and bicycles will begin their journey down Kelly's Way at 6:30 p.m.
After the parade, the East Brady Citizen of the Year will be announced. The Earthquakers will then take the stage, Hall said.
On Saturday night, the SteelTown Band will entertain with fireworks following at 10 p.m.
Festival hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday; 5 to 11 p.m. Friday; noon to 11 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
