POLICE REPORTS

These items have been collected from various police departments.

Monday — Theresa M. Slupe, 70, of Center Township was charged with shoplifting a vacuum cleaner accessory last month at a Route 68 store. She is accused of taking a hose coupler, valued at $22.46, around 11:30 a.m. June 20 at Thermax Clean Care Center.

Police said the alleged crime was caught on store surveillance video.

Slupe, who has one prior shoplifting conviction, is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.

Monday — Police cited Cheryl Franklin, 55, of Lyndora for failing to provide clean and sanitary shelter for her dogs stemming from a report of animal neglect last month.

Police said they went to Franklin's apartment on Bessemer Avenue around 6:40 p.m. June 24 and found dogs living there with “animal feces throughout” the home, according to court documents.

She is charged with a summary count of neglect of animals.

July 12 — Aaron J. Brinkley, 36, of Eau Claire was charged with having several pills of a drug commonly used to treat opioid addiction stemming from a traffic stop earlier this month in Lyndora. Police said they pulled him over around 12:25 a.m. July 2 for not using a turn signal at Bessemer Avenue and Butler Road.

An officer at the defendant's car noticed an open case of beer and an open beer can behind his seat, according to court documents. When police removed the can, which still had beer in it, they allegedly found six pills inside a plastic baggie.

The pills were identified as buprenorphine hydrochloride and naloxone hydrochloride, documents said. The medication is used for the treatment of opioid dependence. Brinkley told police he did not have a prescription for the drug.

He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, driving with an open container of alcohol and failing to use turn signals.

3:41 p.m. July 8 — Terry V. Ulisky, 61, of Karns City was stopped driving with a suspended license on Hansen Avenue. He is charged with a misdemeanor count of driving during suspension-DUI related.

Police also cited Ulisky for driving without a license and unauthorized use of a license plate.

Tuesday — Zachary M. Ross, 21, of Butler was charged with drugged driving stemming from a February traffic stop at the Butler Crossing shopping plaza in Butler Township. He was stopped around 8:15 p.m. Feb. 15 after police learned he was allegedly driving with a suspended police.Police said Ross admitted to smoking marijuana about three hours earlier, and he subsequently showed impairment during field sobriety testing. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which confirmed he had marijuana in his system.Ross is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving during suspension, driving without a license and careless driving.2:28 a.m. July 13 — Christopher J. McGrady, 50, of Chicora was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 68 in Oakland Township. Police said they pulled him over after his car crossed both the yellow center line and white fog lines.Troopers got to the car and noticed an opened bottle of vodka on the floor of the back passenger seat, according to court documents. McGrady later allegedly failed field sobriety tests.He was taken for a breath test, which allegedly showed that his blood-alcohol level was 0.157 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.McGrady is charged with DUI, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, driving with an open container of alcohol and careless driving.July 11 — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Alan B. Cousins, 21, of Center Township on charges that he illegally attempted to buy a rifle last fall at a Center Township store.On Nov. 9, Cousins gave inaccurate information on a background check form while trying to purchase a Savage Arms .22-caliber rifle at Dunham’s Discount Sports at the Clearview Mall, according to court documents.The would-be purchase was denied after his information was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system, which is operated by state police.He is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor.3:57 a.m. July 4 — Wayne C. Shalbot, 42, of Renfrew was arrested for drunken driving in Center Township. He was stopped after police saw his sport utility vehicle cross the white fog line several times and weave in his lane.Police said Shalbot admitted to drinking before driving and he failed field sobriety tests. A breath test allegedly showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.155 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.In addition to driving under the influence, Shalbot is charged with disregarding traffic lines and careless driving.
