Motorcyclist dies in weekend crash
BUTLER TOWNSHIP — A Butler man died Saturday morning in a motorcycle crash on Route 8, according to Butler Township Police.
Kenneth Lawrence, 53, was southbound on Route 8 when he swerved his motorcycle into oncoming, northbound traffic and hit a passenger car driven by a 26-year-old man. The accident occurred in front of a Sheetz gas station at the intersection of Vogel Road. Lawrence was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 26-year-old driver was treated by Butler Ambulance Service for minor injuries and possible serious injuries. No criminal charges were filed.
Police do not know what caused Lawrence to go into opposing traffic. The crash remains under investigation, according to a press release issued Monday by Butler Township police.
Emergency responders from Butler, Penn and Middlesex townships were dispatched to the scene. Lawrence was transported to the Butler County Coroner’s Office afterward to determine the cause of death.
