June 23 — Eric L. Bailey, 36, of Butler was arraigned on charges that he illegally tried to buy an unspecified gun in January at a Clearview Mall store in Center Township.

Police said Bailey provided false information on background forms Jan. 3 when he tried to buy the gun at Rural King.

He was arraigned on a felony charge of unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm and a misdemeanor charge of unsworn falsification to authorities. He was released on $3,000 unsecured bail following arraignment.

June 6 — Jacqueline J. Highton, 42, was charged with corruption of minors stemming from a party in April at her home in Winfield Township where a 17-year-old girl suffered an apparent overdose.

According to court documents, the teenager took a suspected illegal drug April 27 and suffered side effects. Highton at one point “attempted to hold (the girl) up as she could no longer stand on her own,” a police affidavit said.

The teen related that she began to overdose and needed medical treatment, the affidavit said. But police allege the defendant did not contact 911 to seek medical assistance for the girl, who subsequently recovered.

During the investigation, police reviewed cell phone video from the night of the party that allegedly showed the victim under the influence and Highton holding her up and trying to give her water.
