Bar Assoc. Foundation awards grants
The Butler County Bar Association Foundation has awarded $22,050 in grants to seven community organizations.
The charitable arm of the county bar association selected the recipients of the grants based on their ability to improve the administration of justice and provide support to those in need in the community, according to a news release on the grants.
The foundation and its charitable mission are supported by the county bar association and gifts from individual attorneys and law firms.
Since its establishment in 2015, the foundation has awarded $112,650 to local nonprofit organizations and projects.
The organizations to receive the 2019 grants are:
- Butler City Police Department for the purchase of two police K9s and a K9 equipped vehicle
- Community Care Connections for Camp Apple, which provides specialized support for campers with behavioral challenges
- Jean B. Purvis Community Health Center to support medical and dental care for those in need
- Life Choices to support women overcoming obstacles, such as legal issues and temporary custody arrangements
- Neighborhood Legal Services to support costs associated with re-opening the Butler office, which provides free legal services to low-income individuals and those with disabilities
