2 a.m. Monday — John M. Sleigher, 27, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly resisted police attempts to arrest him for public intoxication at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott hotel on East Jefferson Street.

Police were initially called to the Sunoco gas station on the 200 block of East Jefferson Street, where Sleigher is accused of shoving a man to the ground in the parking lot for no apparent reason, according to court documents.

The suspect reportedly left and was seen walking west on East Jefferson Street toward Main Street.

A short time later, police got a call, this one from SpringHill Suites for an intoxicated and “belligerent” man, who was attempting to “get behind the front desk,” documents said.

Officers arrived and found the suspect, later identified as Sleigher, in the lobby. Police said it appeared that he was yelling at the staff. One of the officers subsequently took him by the arm while trying to arrest him.

But once outside, police said, the defendant pulled away and caused an officer to forcibly take him to the ground.

Sleigher was arraigned on charges of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness. He was released on non-monetary bail.

9:56 p.m. Friday — A vehicle ended on its side following a two-vehicle crash at New Castle and Alameda roads. The collision occurred when a vehicle driven by Destiny Moniot, 21, of Butler turned and was struck by a vehicle driven by Tina Albert, 51, of Harrisville.Moniot's vehicle flipped onto its side. Neither driver was injured, but a Butler Ambulance Service crew checked out a passenger in Albert's vehicle. The passenger, who police did not identify, refused further treatment.Police are asking that anyone who saw the accident call them at 724-285-9600.3:14 p.m. Friday — A car driven by Lisa J. Hock, 42, of Fenelton struck another vehicle after police said she ran a red light at North Duffy and New Castle roads. Neither Hock nor Linda Wagner, 69, of Butler, the other driver, was injured.Police said Wagner's vehicle had to be towed. Hock was cited for driving an unregistered vehicle, driving a vehicle without valid inspection and a red light violation.6:29 p.m. July 3 — Roy Lugo, 24, of Pittsburgh was allegedly caught with heroin at the Holiday Inn Express on North Duffy Road.Police said they found Lugo after getting a call for an intoxicated man at the hotel. He was found with suspected heroin. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.

9:41 p.m. Friday — An Ohio man was arrested after an altercation with his wife during a Fourth of July party at a home on Kreiss Road in Connoquenessing Township. John W. Lang, 43, of Columbus was arraigned on misdemeanor and summary charges and released on non-monetary bail.Lang is accused of slapping the victim in the face. Police said when others at the party tried to intervene, the defendant tried fighting them before leaving the home. No injuries were reported. Troopers found him walking on Kreiss Road.He is charged with disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness.8:52 p.m. Thursday — Michael L. Watterson, 58, of Petrolia was badly injured when a pickup truck he was riding in crashed in Fairview Township. The driver, Paul R. Homa, 58, of West Sunbury was also injured.The wreck occurred on Petrolia Road, where Homa lost control of the truck on the rain-soaked road, according to a police report. The pickup struck an embankment.Watterson is believed to have suffered a serious injury. Homa had a minor injury. Neither man was wearing a seat belt. The truck had to be towed.Police cited Homa for driving on the wrong side of the road and a seat belt violation.5:34 a.m. Thursday — An unknown driver did not stop after a two-vehicle crash on Route 68 just north of Whitestown Road in Connoquenessing Township. The suspected hit-and-run driver was in an unidentified vehicle that rear-ended a sport utility vehicle stopped at a red light.The other driver, Nellie J. Pisor, 36, of Butler, was not injured.Thursday — A license plate was reported stolen from a vehicle at a home on Simpson Avenue in Chicora. The Pennsylvania plate KSD2621 was taken between 5 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday.9:41 p.m. June 30 — A pickup driven by Joseph E. Ow, 51, of Mars struck a deer on Mars Evans City Road in Forward Township. Ow was not injured, but his truck had to be towed.1:45 p.m. June 29 — No one was injured in a two-vehicle collision on Route 68 just east of Oakland Drive in Oakland Township. The wreck occurred when a sport utility vehicle driven by Cara L. Craig, 43, of Chicora turned into the path of a pickup driven by Philip J. Michel, 44, of Slippery Rock.Police noted Michel tried unsuccessfully to avoid the collision. The SUV had to be towed.

3:59 p.m. Friday — William M. Landsperger, 46, of Harrisville was injured when he swerved his sport utility vehicle to avoid a deer and struck a tree along Kennerdell Road in Rockland Township.Landsperger, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to UPMC Northwest hospital in Seneca with a broken left arm. His vehicle had to be towed.
