Petrolia community steward leaves behind legacy of love, service

Jeffrey Larimore

PETROLIA — Family man. Storyteller. Volunteer. Councilman. Good guy.

That is part of the legacy left behind by Jeffrey W. Larimore — better known to most as “Slim” or “Spanky” — who died unexpectedly of natural causes Sunday at his home in the borough. He was 62.

“Slim was one of those guys who was always smiling, always happy, and always had a story to tell,” said Chuck Barnes, chief of the Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department. “He also was very dedicated to the community.”

Though not as long as Barnes’ four decades, Larimore was a long-timer with the fire department, including as president.

“For many years,” Barnes said, “we worked hand-in-hand.”

Visitation for Larimore will be from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery in Petrolia.
