SLIPPERY ROCK — Playwright and former Butler resident Don Orwald will have his play “The Blitzkrieg and the Bantam” performed at this weekend's ninth annual Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival.

The one-act play, set in Butler in October 1940, has a cast of Butler area residents led by Jerry Johnston and Bob Meals. It will be staged at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday and is included with spectator admission of $10 for adults and $3 for children ages 3 to 12 at Cooper's Lake Campground, 205 Currie Road.

The ninth annual Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival pulls into town Friday through Sunday, including a Jeep Invasion event that will close roads in downtown Butler from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday.

This year's events feature more off-road trail rides, a Bantam Poker Run and children's activities.

PITTSBURGH — The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival opens Friday, celebrating music and art in Point State Park, Gateway Plaza and the Cultural District.Concerts include India Arie on Friday and Mandolin Orange on June 15, among others.The free festival runs through June 16.The full line-up is available at TrustArts.org/TRAF.

AMBRIDGE — Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village will host its 22nd annual atlatl competition noon to 5 p.m. June 15.Prehistoric hunters used a spear-thrower called the atlatl, a precursor to the bow and arrow, to hunt for food.
