Monster Bash features world premiere movie

Ricou Browning portrayed the version of “The Creature from the Black Lagoon” in the swimming scenes for the movies. He will be at the Cranberry area Monster Bash.

'Gorgon' includes '60s, '70s British horror film actors

Monster Bash, the international classic monster movie conference and film festival, returns to the Cranberry Township area this month with the world premiere of a movie.

The three-day event will be June 21 to 23 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Pittsburgh-Cranberry, 910 Sheraton Drive, Marshall Township, Allegheny County.

“We're so happy to be able to actually world premiere a movie at Monster Bash,” said program director Ron Adams. “It's called 'House of the Gorgon' and is a tip-of-the-hat to the classic horror films from England in the 1960s.”

According to Adams, the film's director/producer Joshua Kennedy hired much of the cast from British horror films of the 1960s and 1970s. Most of the cast and the director will be there in person for the show all weekend, Adams said.

Monster Bash features screenings of classic films and television shows, question-and-answer sessions with celebrities, music, and monster movie memorabilia.

A special guest this year will be Ricou Browning, the last living actor to portray a classic Universal Studios monster. Browning wore the creature costume in “Creature from the Black Lagoon,” “Revenge of the Creature” and “The Creature Walks Among Us.”

“We're so proud to have Ricou Browning as a guest of honor at this Monster Bash fest,” Adams said. “You can meet him and get an autograph at Bash.”

Other celebrities scheduled to appear include former Bond girl Martine Beswick from “Thunderball” and “One Million Years B.C.,” Veronica Carlson from “Dracula Has Risen from the Grave” and Christopher Neame from “Dracula A.D. 1972.”All three actors appear in “House of the Gorgon.”After a sneak preview in London, the film's official world premiere release will be at Monster Bash.“Fans can meet Martine Beswick, Veronica Carlson, Christopher Neame and director Joshua Kennedy,” Adams said. “This new movie will screen Saturday (June 22) night.”Later that night, an outdoor screening of the 1955 classic monster film “Revenge of the Creature” will be in the grassy area in front of the hotel, weather permitting.Additional celebrities scheduled to appear include: Sharyn Moffett, a Hollywood child actress who appeared in films with Boris Karloff, Cary Grant and Melvyn Douglas; actor/director and makeup master Tom Savini; and John Russo, screenwriter and zombie from the original “Night of the Living Dead.”Hours are 9 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. June 21, 8 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. June 22, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 23.Admission is charged each day.
