A federal grand jury added new charges to Scott and Stephanie Roskovski, prosecutors announced Thursday.

The Roskovskis are now charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States and avoid paying income taxes. More new charges relate to filing false income tax returns every year from 2013 through 2016.

The new charges were announced Thursday by U.S. Attorney Scott Brady in a press release.

Brady's office accuses the couple of failing to report embezzled money and falsely reporting “unreimbursed employee expenses and over $85,000 in losses from a purported private investigating consulting business, identified as “Private Investigative Solutions.”

Scott is a former detective in the Butler County District Attorney's office who was fired in 2018 after supervisors learned of the investigation.

Stephanie served as Butler Health System's chief operating officer until being fired in August of 2017.

The new charges bring their total count to 42. When the couple appeared in court in late-April, they faced 37 counts.

They were taken into federal custody on April 19, and released the same day on an unsecured $250,000 bond each.

The new charges won't result in another arrest, but the couple will receive a formal letter explaining the additional charges and summoning them for formal arraignment.

The couple are accused of embezzling $1.3 million from BHS between 2011 and 2017, among other crimes.
