KC girls get past Clarion

Logan Byers struck out six and tossed a three-hitter Tuesday, winning a pitcher's duel as Karns City's softball team edged Clarion, 2-1.

Kate Allen had a run-scoring single during the Gremlins' two-run first inning. Alyssa Stitt doubled and scored in the frame.

Freeport defeated Chartiers Valley, 11-10, in overtime in their first-round WPIAL Class AA playoff game at Chartiers Valley.
