9:32 p.m. April 25 — An Armstrong County man was allegedly found with suspected drugs and other contraband after he was pulled over for going the wrong way on North Bluff Street. The suspect, James O. Fisher, 61, of Rural Valley, also ended up under arrest on drunken driving charges.

Fisher admitted that he had consumed alcohol before driving, according to court documents. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.076 percent.

While the reading was under the state's 0.08 percent legal limit, police still charged him with driving under the influence, accusing him of having enough alcohol to render him “incapable of safely driving,” documents said.

Following his arrest, police said, officers searched him and found a plastic baggie containing suspected crack cocaine. A search of his sport utility vehicle allegedly turned up a mason jar with suspected marijuana, a marijuana grinder, rolling papers and a marijuana pipe.

In addition to DUI, Fisher is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana, driving with a suspended license and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

8 a.m. Monday — A car driven by Linda L. Stock, 58, of Renfrew collided head-on with another car on Meridian Road after she attempted to make a left turn onto Whitestown Road.Neither Stock nor the other driver, Bernadette Link, 42, of Portersville, was injured, but both cars had to be towed. Police cited Stock for making an improper left turn.May 4 — A Venango County woman was caught allegedly shoplifting 53 food items at the Butler Commons' Walmart. The merchandise was valued at $188.33. The defendant, Amy L. Ace, 44, of Franklin, is charged with retail theft.May 1 — Jolena E. Harbison, 40, of Parker was charged with having a crack pipe in March at a store at the Greater Butler Mart. Police said the pipe was found in a wallet that she misplaced at the Dollar General.Harbison is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.11:10 p.m. May 3 — Maria Buzzard, 34, of Saxonburg was injured in a two-vehicle wreck caused when the other driver ran a red light on Route 8 south at Litman Road. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries.Police said Joshua M. Whitmire, 18, of Karns City, was cited for the red light violation.6:02 p.m. May 2 — A motorcycle driven by Paul D. Stellwag, 60, of Harrisville struck the back of a vehicle on Route 422 near Greenwood Drive. Stellwag's passenger, Cathy Shea, 55, of Big Stone Gap, Va., was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with an unknown injury.Neither Stellwag nor the other driver, Brooke Ronan, 29, of New Castle, was injured. Ronan told police that the accident occurred when she had to stop suddenly for a vehicle that stopped abruptly in front of her in the middle of the eastbound lane on Route 422.

12:17 p.m. May 9 — Vehicles driven by Connie Hedglin, 53, of Slippery Rock and Jeffrey Parchem, 53, of Butler collided at South Center and West Pine streets. Hedglin was taken to Grove City Medical Center after complaining of pain.Both drivers told police they had the green light when they collided in the intersection. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.

1:50 a.m. Sunday — Zachary T. Beneke, 22, of Johnstown, Cambria County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he wrecked his vehicle on the 300 block of Kiester Road in Slippery Rock Township.1 a.m. Sunday — Michael S. Furge, 53, of Evans City was arrested for DUI after he crashed his vehicle into a utility pole at Crowe Avenue and Second Street in Mars.Furge is charged with DUI, disregarding traffic lanes, failing to keep right and careless driving.May 8 — Jamie M. Gardner, 32, of Butler was charged with drugged driving stemming from a March traffic stop in Butler Township. Police said she was pulled over around 3:15 p.m. March 27 after running a stop sign at Alameda and New Castle roads.Gardner failed field sobriety tests, and she was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results showed she had methamphetamine and cocaine in her system, according to court documents.She is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, a stop sign violation, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes, and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.May 7 — Jennifer M. Evanitsky, 32, of Wexford was arraigned on charges that she illegally tried to a buy a firearm last year at a Summit Township gun store.Evanitsky is accused of providing false information on a background check form that was required Dec. 8 when she attempted to buy a .22-caliber pistol at Sportsman's Supply Co., according to court documents.Police said that when her information was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system, she was denied the purchase.She is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor. She is free on her own recognizance.May 6 — Michael J. O'Neill, 37, of Fairview Township was charged with having a shotgun during an investigation into a reported protection from abuse (PFA) violation in March.Police said they went to O'Neill's home on Greenhill Road and noticed the 12-gauge, pump-action shotgun in his unlocked pickup truck. Because he is the subject of a PFA, he is not permitted to possess firearms under state law.He admitted having the gun, according to court documents, telling police that he “had found it and forgotten about it.” Police seized it. O'Neill is charged with illegal possession of a firearm, a misdemeanor.

8:51 p.m. May 9 — A 41-year-old Butler woman, whom police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 422 west and Claypoole Road in Worthington. Charges are pending lab results.
