Butler's boys lacrosse team put together a furious comeback to tie its WPIAL Class AAA boys lacrosse playoff game Monday night at Peters Township.

The Golden Tornado (9-7) saw that rally foiled, however, when the Indians scored less than two minutes into overtime to secure a 10-9 victory.

Butler trailed 5-1 at halftime and 7-1 early in the second half before rallying. Dominik Fudoli — who scored five goals on the night — netted the tying goal with approximately 30 seconds left in regulation.

“The outcome wasn't what we wanted, but I'm proud that we were able to at least force overtime,” Butler coach Trevor Monteleone said. “These guys never quit. They never gave up.

“We regrouped when we were down early in the second half and the guys realized this was our last chance. We went down fighting.”

Connor Bachman, who scored more than 50 goals in the regular season, was “locked down by the Peters Township defense,” Monteleone said.

“They took him away. He was unabl;e to score,” the coach added.

Seneca Valley 12, Canon-McMillan 8 — Noah VandeWater scored three goals for the Raiders in this Class AAA playoff win.

Jimmy Border, Ryan Greer, Cory Lindey and Brady Page all added a pair of goals. Bryson Funyak added a single tally.

In regular season play, Seneca Valley defeated Sewickley Academy, 16-2, recently on Senior Night.

Border scored four goals for the Raiders while Lindey and VandeWater scored three each. Greer scored a pair of goals.

Netting one goal each were Jake Mineweaser, Funyak, Zach Galovich and Marshall Maier.
